Texas Accessibility Standards (TAS) require at least one ADA-compliant water closet, lavatory, and accessible route per restroom group. Multi-stall restrooms need an accessible stall (60" clear) plus typical lavatory clearances. Single-occupant restrooms in B occupancy may be combined under TAS 213.2 exception.

Important. This is the IPC Table 422.1 minimum. Local amendments (City of Austin, Houston, Dallas) sometimes raise restaurant or assembly counts. Single-user / all-gender exception: IPC 403.1.2 lets a single-occupant restroom serve in lieu of separate-sex restrooms for spaces with occupant load ≤ 15 (or ≤ 50 in some 2021 amendments). Family room trigger: IPC 403.2.1 requires a family/assisted-use toilet room in assembly and mercantile occupancies once the calculated count reaches 6+ male AND 6+ female water closets. Always verify with the AHJ plumbing reviewer before submittal.
